PCP WELCOMES MR. TARIQ MAHMOOD PASHA AND MS. MADIHA KHALID TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 
Meet the PCP Board of Directors
 
 
Mr. Pasha had done LLB from the University of Peshawar and then passed CSS exams and joined government service as Income Tax officer. He has served on different key positions during his career. Mr. Pasha retired as Secretary, Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan. Before his appointment as FBR chairman in 2017, Mr. Pasha was serving as Special Assistant to Finance Minister, Secretary Economic Affairs Division and Secretary Statistics Division. Over the course of his career, he has served on the Boards of Pak Brunei Investment Company, Aitchison College Lahore and the Bank of Punjab.
 
 
Ms. Madiha Khalid has over 16 years of professional HR work experience. She started her career with ABN AMRO bank. She has worked in a variety of business partner and HR specialist roles during her 15 years with Shell Pakistan and is currently its Director and Head of Human Resources. She has translated business strategy to proactive people and care agenda for Pakistan in a competitive manner for a population scope of 400+ employees. She is a Chartered Member from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) UK, holds an MBA and BBA degree from University of Wollongong.
 
 
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEWLY CERTIFIED NONPROFITS ON GETTING PCP'S "SEAL OF GOOD HOUSEKEEPING"
 
PCP, the body approved by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the certification of nonprofit entities in Pakistan, has granted certification approval to as many as 70 organizations during April to June 2021.
 
 
 
Beyond tax benefits, PCP Certification Stamp helps to bridge the information and credibility gap between grant-makers and grant-recipients, builds NPOs' capacity to meet international standards of Governance, Transparency & Accountability and last but not the least, build a credible pool of nonprofits that are reliable and effective development partners.

INDIVIDUAL PHILANTHROPY IN PAKISTAN
Given the uniqueness and significance of Individual Philanthropy Study, PCP’s Board of Directors has decided to carry out this work on decennial basis. The concept note of the study has been approved by the PCP’s Research Committee and it is proposed to form a Technical Advisory Group to seek input and guidance. The study is planned to be completed by 2024.


 
 
DOING GOOD INDEX 2021
Doing Good Index (DGI) is a study conducted by Center for Asia Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) in 18 countries of Asia including Pakistan. For year 2021, PCP is selected as one of the partner organizations to collect data from selected sample of Social Delivery Organizations (SDOs) to assess their performance and impact on the social sector. Data from 63 SDOs has been collected through an online survey. Moreover, a qualitative group discussion with experts working for SDOs has also been carried out to supplement information from the survey data. Officials from PCP, SZABIST, FBR and Hamza Law Association participated in the group discussion.


 
PAKISTAN GIVING INDEX
A nationwide study replicating the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) methodology for examining the patterns of giving has been conducted. The data has been collected through random digital dial (RDD) technique from all regions of the country. The report on Pakistan Giving Index will be completed in September 2021.


 
 
PHILANTHROPY COURSE
To raise awareness and knowledge about the underlying dynamics of philanthropy among the youth, PCP has taken the initiative to launch an "Introductory Course on Philanthropy" in some universities. In this regard, meetings with Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST) Islamabad officials were held to determine the feasibility of course teaching. Various innovative ideas of mutual interest of both institutions were discussed. The SZABIST and FJWU agreed to introduce a 3-credit hour course on Philanthropy in the Fall term, 2021.

WEBINAR ON "YOUTH IN PHILANTHROPY"
A Webinar on "Youth in Philanthropy" was organized on 27th April 2021 in collaboration with SZABIST Islamabad. The session was moderated by Dr. Naushin Mahmood, Head of Research Unit PCP and speakers included Ms. Shazia Amjad - Executive Director PCP, Dr. Khansa Zaman - Associate Professor SZABIST, Ms. Maria Qadri - Director UAO NUST, Mr. Musa Aamir - Co-Founder Rizq Trust, and Ms. Sonal Dhanani - Founder & CEO Parindey.

Mr. Shahzad Hussain, CEO Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO), and Admiral(r) Asif Sandila, Chairman Moawin Foundation, visited PCP to discuss possible ways of collaboration. Ms. Shazia Amjad, Executive Director PCP, endorsed their views on building partnership and then presented to them a souvenir and recent research publications on philanthropy in Pakistan.
 
 
 
PCP, in partnership with Give2Asia, is facilitating "Grant of US$ 150,000" from S&P Global Foundation to Akhuwat. This is to support Akhuwat (i) to provide ration packages for the affected families; (ii) to support financially constrained families; and (iii) to provide PPEs and masks to hospitals with limited facilities amid Covid-19.
