Enabling
Environment for NPOs – PCP Publishes Its
Report!
Enabling environment for
NGOs has been under discussion in recent years
and is an area of concern for many at the
national and international level. Considering
the importance of the issue, PCP has been
working to explore and analyse various
dimensions that constitute an enabling
environment for the civil society sector in
Pakistan. Development of the latest report is
part of PCP’s efforts to provide support to the
nonprofit sector besides contributing to the
policy discourse on improving the enabling
environment for philanthropy in Pakistan. The
study represents the second volume report on
enabling environment as the first report
“Creating an Enabling Legal Framework for
Nonprofit Organizations in Pakistan” was
published in 2002. The earlier report studied
laws which were relevant to civil society in
Pakistan with a special emphasis on those that
operated as nonprofit organizations. However,
the present report aims to deepen the
understanding and inform the discourse on the
issue. Hopefully, the findings of the study
would be useful in deepening awareness about the
prevailing environment for NPOs and in
presenting an action agenda for PCP. The report
of the study has been published and would soon
be available.
