Covid -19 Response - PCP Connects Donors with the Certified Organizations

In the wake of the novel Corona Virus 2019 (COVID-19) that has spread to over 170 countries across the world including Pakistan, there has been a global medical crisis. The rapid spread of Covid-19 and the precautionary economic lockdown in Pakistan has affected citizens across economic backgrounds. To provide relief to those that are affected the most by the pandemic, PCP in collaboration with its partner, Give2Asia, is calling and facilitating the donor community to support the communities impacted by Covid-19 through its network of certified NPOs across the country. Over the last one month, our generous corporate donors: (i) PepsiCo Foundation and (ii) S&P Global Foundation, have pledged more than US$626,000 to support epidemic response efforts in Pakistan. Their grants funded PCP certified nonprofits to rapidly respond and save lives in more than 30 districts across four provinces of Pakistan.

The recipient organizations (certified by PCP) included Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan (AKFP), People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) Baluchistan, Orange Tree Foundation (OTF), Association for Gender Awareness & Human Empowerment (AGAHE), Network of Organizations Working with People with Disabilities Pakistan (NOWPDP), Layton Rahmatullah Benevolent Trust (LRBT), Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), Akhuwat Foundation

Currently, on behalf of a leading corporate donor under its Covid-19 Response Program in Pakistan, it has generated an urgent call for proposals. NPOs (certified by PCP and authorized by EAD) working in the area of food security in emergencies, specifically in Azad Jummu & Kashmir (AJK), have been invited to submit project proposals for one month ration package distribution to 2500 households.

With every donor, PCP aims to reach larger pool of NPOs and increase the number of grantees. Keep watch as we float EMERGENCY CALL FOR PROPOSALS (CFP) in coming weeks with below listed priorities:

  • Supporting frontline health workers and national public health priorities

  • Funding activities to slow the spread of the virus, including public health messaging campaigns

  • Building non-profit capacity to prepare health workers and communities to fight this and future epidemics

  • Supporting affected vulnerable families with daily income/food supports during economic activities limitation that affected daily paid workers.

Lock Down Doesn’t Impede Evaluations by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy

Despite the lockdown and teams started work from home, PCP management made arrangements to ensure that evaluations of the organizations are not affected. Organizations (seeking certification) were allowed to submit their mandatory documents online, even fee could be transferred online. Adjustments were made on the website and essential information were made upfront available. For facilitation, contact details of the certification team members were shared on the PCP website. The details of the realignments are given below;

Amidst the COVID 19 crisis, PCP is making all efforts to assist the applicant organizations with the certification process.  You are already aware that PCP’s certification acts as a seal of good governance providing added assurance to the grant-makers on the credibility and transparency of its certified organizations. A lot of local and international organizations are on lookout for credible and transparent organizations to partner with and initiate relief activities for the COVID 19 crisis. PCP has been connecting these donors with the certified organizations hence providing donors with the opportunity of funding for the relief efforts. We are not only receiving online applications but the organizations can also pay their fees using Inet banking facilities. Our teams are working tirelessly to evaluate organizations and perform desk reviews based on provided documents for timely evaluations. Field evaluation may also start in due course. Our evaluators based in Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi and Lahore are also available to visit offices for evaluation for exceptionally urgent cases. For any assistance and support, you may reach out at the below contact numbers.
