One time Exemption Announced by Economic Affairs Division 

Considering the epidemic scenario in the country and in order to facilitate the work of local Not for Profits Organizations/Civil Society Organizations, "Economic Affairs Division (EAD) has issued Office Memorandum (OM) for the exemption of signing MoU with EAD". 

Announcement by the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan

Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, has announced certain measures to facilitate work of, already registered INGOs, during the COVID-19 crisis in the country. Government of Pakistan has, therefore, decided to issue the NOC for their projects relating to COVID19 emergency immediately, subject to compliance with the following guidelines:

  • No prior NOC will be required by the INGOs, working for COVID-19 emergency response, in collaboration with NDMA / PDMAs. However, the INGOs must submit four (04) sets of the Plan of Action with explicit mention of the funding sources and areas of operations (districts / tehsils) in Pakistan.

  • Only those INGOs, which have signed a MoU with the Government of Pakistan are allowed to work as per this SOP.

  • A project completion report, duly verified by NDMA / PDMAs must be submitted by the INGO, within 15 days of the completion of the project.

  • INGOs are allowed to operate only is eight (08) areas of work, duly approved by the government for the INGO sector in Pakistan. No new area of work is allowed to any INGO for this COVID-19 emergency response.

  • The condition of obtaining a prior NOC for the project is exempted for COVID19 relief work, in collaboration of NDMA / PDMAs for a period of six (06) months.


PCP Secures Grants of 75 Million for its Certified Organizations; 25000 Families will Benefit

In a response to request by PCP, PepsiCo Foundation has announced donation of US $450,000 for the distribution of free ration in selected districts of Pakistan. The ration packages comprising basic grocery items such as lentils, ghee, flour, oil, sugar and tea would be distributed by Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan, Peoples’ Primary Healthcare Initiative Balochistan, Orange Tree Foundation and Agahe – the non-profit organizations already certified by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP), which is also the strategic partner of PepsiCo Pakistan. The funds to these organizations would be channelized through Giv2Asia- the US-based organization- authorized to legally facilitating funds and grants for PCP-certified non-profits in Pakistan. It is hoped that another US$ 250,000 would also be allocated to one or two organizations in Sindh Province. 


 

Akhuwat Establishes Corona Imdadi Fund

Akhuwat has set up a “Corona Imdadi Fund” to assist the marginalized segments of the society during the Covid-19 crisis. This Fund will provide (i) ration packages; (ii) free Corona Virus testing service; (iii) a professional consulting helpline; and (iv) support for hospitals where facilities are inadequate. So far, an amount of PKR 3.56 million has been collected through donations into the Fund with a target of raising PKR 10 million in total for financing the above mentioned activities;

 


Saylani Welfare Trust (SWT) Launches Langar-on-Wheels

 

Saylani Welfare Trust (SWT) in collaboration with the Federal Government’s Ehsaas Programme has initiated “Langar-on-Wheels” pilot across the twin cities. Also, they are safeguarding dignity, safety & social distance while delivering 1,200 food boxes daily to the daily wage workers.


Indus Health Network (IHN) offers Medical Services to Corona Pattients

 

 

Indus Health Network has made multiple hospitals operational in Karachi to be used as treatment facilities for coronavirus patients

Indus Health Network helped the Government of Sindh to set-up two quarantine hospitals at Dumba Goth and Gadap Town.

Conducting COVID19 tests of the patients coming to our facilities and also are supporting the requirements of the Government of Sindh.

Have established a 26-bed facility with a possibility of ventilator with each bed.

Equipped the Emergency Department at the Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus, Karachi to provide screening and the treatment for potential Covid19 patients.

Running mass public awareness campaign through all our digital platforms (website and social media).

Developed animated videos in English and Urdu, flyers, standees, posters, and other patient education material.

Regular screening of all staff coming to work is being conducted at Indus hospitals and healthcare facilities across the Indus Health Network.

Launched a Pakistan-specific COVID-19 self-screening tool to help people self-check their symptoms and risk factors from home.


Alkhidmat Foundation Initiates Health Services

In collaboration with its local and global partners, Alkhidmat Foundation has started taking crucial steps including establishment of isolation centers, emergency medical care, distribution of ration packages & precautionary goods and awareness campaigns.

 


Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) Sets Up Four Quarantine centers in AJK

In collaboration with district administrations, KORT has established four quarantine centers across Azad Kashmir treating 100 corona patients at a time.


Rural Aid’s Activities in the three Districts 

Rural Aid is carrying out activities aimed at creating awareness among the masses in the districts of Narowal, Sahiwal and Nankana Sahib districts and also making efforts to supply free ration to the deserving families.

Human Appeal Pakistan (HAP) works with the Public Sector

HAP installed hand sanitizers at the 30 metro stations 30 entry and exit points for the passengers and for more than 1,000 janitorial, ticketing and security staff serving at these stations.

Helped Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) through medical supplies

HAP is currently providing more than 1,000 people with the family size hygiene kits including hand sanitizers, masks, gloves and other necessary items further ensuring personal & domestic hygiene.

Providing immediate relief and food assistance to more than 3,000 people (daily wage workers).

Corona Care Drive by Patients' Aid Foundation

 

PAF - JPMC's Fundraising Committee (FRC) initiated a 'Corona Care Drive' on Friday, 20th March to provide immediate support to people vulnerable in this situation and staff on-duty. With generous donations, Corona care packs comprising of health and hygiene products have been distributed to patients, attendants, medical professionals and on-duty staff for the last 2 weeks.

 


Major Initiatives by HANDS

HANDS is distributing food baskets in a number of cities across Pakistan. Their field offices are in process of selection of Extremely Vulnerable Individual- EVIs in close coordination of district administration and DDMAs. HANDS has a target of 25,000 households to be covered under the relief activity. 

Additionally, initiated a three months program to support the Government of Sindh to fill the infrastructure, material and human resource gaps in the 21 designated isolation wards and health care facilities across the Sindh province.

2,000 hygiene kits and masks are handed over to the PDMAs in Sindh and Balochistan under DFID funded Multiyear Humanitarian Program- MYHP. These items will be utilised by the authorities at isolation centres established by the Government of Sindh and Balochsitan.

Isolation wards have been established at SGH Murad Memon Goth and Ibrahim Hydri and ambulance services for shifting suspected cases along with DHO Malir Teams in District Malir.


RAHMA Islamic Relief 

RAHMA has distributed hand washing Soaps among people visiting hospitals in Punjab and Azad Kashmir. The organization is in the process of identifying 1500 families who are among street vendors and daily wagers affected by lock-down situation in the country. The identified families will be provided monthly food packages at their door step.
